A few weeks ago Tracey, the amazing missionary who runs the baby house and takes care of the transition house where kids live for a year after they leave the baby house, was tia-less for a night. As I've explained before, tias are aunts in Portuguese. This is the word we use to refer to the amazing women who work here at the center. They work 4 days on and 4 days off caring for the children. In Tracey's dorm the system is no different. But, this particular day her tia had gotten a call that her son was ill and needed to be taken to the doctor. She had to leave suddenly, leaving Tracey tia-less. I volunteered my services!
Tracey and I bathed, clothed, fed, and got her kiddos off to church that night. It was the highlight of their week. They told EVERYONE that Mana Meghann gave them a bath. So funny! Take at look at what it looks like to be a tia for a night...
Being a tia is hard work but rewarding work...look at those gorgeous smiles!
