Lets Go Fly A Kite!

The kids in Mozambique go through phases just likes kids in the States.  They may not be worried if Hilary Duff or Miley Cyrus is the next best thing.  Their phases are just a bit different than the phases we are used to.  But, each season of the year a different toy is in style.  Everyone collects the needed material to make this toy.
Sometimes it's the time of year to play with tires...
Sometimes it's the time of year to play with tops...
Sometimes they collect wire and cans and make amazing toy cars!
And, sometimes it's the time of year to play with kites!  At the moment, it's kites!  In Portuguese a kite is called papagaio (papa-gy-oo).  The children run around SCREAMING papagaio all day long!  When the Baby House kids find a long piece of string, they hold it over their head, run, and say, "Look I have a kite!"  So cute!  The older boys spend their days after school using plastic bags to fasten kites and watch them soar.  I LOVE their creativity.  They are entertained by absolutely anything.  What a blessing!
Making kites is hard work...
...But flying them is lots of fun!
